“The Mysterious Affair at Styles” is the first detective novel by the queen of detective fiction, English writer Agatha Christie. It is also the first novel in the Hercule Poirot series. The action takes place during the First World War. Arthur Hastings gets sick leave and decides to visit his friend John Cavendish. While visiting, he witnesses the death of the elderly hostess and asks his friend Hercule Poirot to help with the investigation.
