«I wrote that book in three days flat… I was so frightened of interruptions, of anything breaking the flow of continuity, that after I had written the first chapter in a while heat, I proceeded to write the last chapter, because I knew so clearly where I was going that I felt I must get it down on paper. Otherwise I did not have to interrupt anything — I went straight through. I don’t think I have ever been so tired. When I finished, when I had seen that the chapter I had written earlier needed not a word changed, I fell on my bed, and as far as I remember slept more or less for twenty four hours straight through» [Christie, 1977, 499].
