According to the data, the most popular summer job among the adolescents in Zetland is a street cleaner as it was mentioned by 40% of the respondents. The data also shows that some teenagers prefer to work as waiters (18%) and babysitters (16%) in summer.
Interestingly, the data in the table shows that the number of teenagers who work as dog walkers (15%) is almost the same as the number of those who choose to work as babysitters (16%). This can be explained by the fact that teenagers prefer to work in some familiar home-like environment, probably because this comforts them after days of spending almost all of their time at school.
There are some problems that can arise with working as a babysitter. One of the key issues which can be mentioned is that someone might not know how to handle young children right, which might lead to some bad experiences or even psychological traumas in kids. To prevent this from happening, local communities could organise some courses for those who do not know how to deal with young children.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I personally believe that having a summer job is really important. It can teach people to be responsible and it can give an opportunity to gain some new skills.
