“Great Expectations,” Dickens “Great Expectations” — this is a book about a man, love, unexpected life turns, revenge and anger, about unjustified hopes and unfulfilled dreams. This is an interesting story about the difficult life of the protagonist Pip, who, as an honest and unselfish person, does not find a place in “secular society”, and money can not make him happy. Initially, Dickens wanted to finish the novel tragically, but, in spite of everything, did not dare to finish “Great Expectations” with their complete collapse.

The Finches spent their money foolishly (the Hotel we dined at was in Covent Garden), and the first Finch I saw when I had the honour of joining the Grove was Bentley Drummle, at that time floundering about town in a cab of his own, and doing a great deal of damage to the posts at the street corners.
As I had grown accustomed to my expectations, I had insensibly begun to notice their effect upon myself and those around me. Their influence on my own character I disguised from my recognition as much as possible, but I knew very well that it was not all good.
