Introduction

“Why do you look for the living among the dead?”

Bible, Luke 24:5

“I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”

Bible: Revelation 3:1—3

“Do you know what feels strange about this hospital? Nobody is laughing here.

The person who is not able to laugh anymore has no more reason to be here.”

Conversation in hospital

Dedication

This book is dedicated to the people from whom I have learned the secrets about life and death: especially Michel Boje, my patient for several years who taught me about the mystery of death (he had hepatitis C, was addicted to narcotics but was able to fulfil his dreams), my beloved father Nikolaj Kozevnikov, former chief engineer for hydropower station construction in Russia, who taught me (he is in his 80s) the art of resolving any extreme situations, my dear lovely Danish husband professor Leif Bjørnø who taught me (and he is still teaching) the art of adaptation of any life challenges and many-many others who were my daily teachers in the school of life and death. Thanks to all of them this book was created.

Preface

— Do you have some extra time in your very busy life to read this book?

— Why extra time? — You can ask.

— Simply, because you are underway to your last place of rest — to the cemetery! Are you not? You are. Do not be silly! We are all underway together to the same place. We are on the same road. Time is spare. A lifetime is the most valuable and the most wasted resource in our life.

Would you still like to spend some hours with me to read about the mystery of life and death? Good! Stay with me and you will be rewarded with new knowledge, discoveries, and practical advice about how to make your existence richer, long lasting, and cheerful.

Now the first truth: you are dying and there is no way to escape. You are coming closer and closer to your life’s dead end. You have already made a good part of this pilgrimage. You are doing this everyday, with every step you make, with every breath you take and with every decision you choose. Do you think that you can avoid the dead end of life? No way! There is no escape — it doesn’t matter if you are a vegetarian and doing your yoga exercises or if you enjoy drinking alcohol everyday with black out experiences at the end of the day: both strategies have the same ending — at the cemetery. There is only one thing that is certain in your life: you will be dead one day. Do not fool yourself with unrealistic dreams. Jesus told about coming back, Buddha told the same, the terminator in every TV serial sent the same tricky message “I will come back”. Only the terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was able to perform it with the help of modern movie techniques. No one ever comes back from the dead end of life to report about the transition processes.

Life is a marathon and everybody will be awarded with the first price: a place in the cemetery.

A near death experience is still good stuff to psychoanalysis, medical brain science and a lot of science fiction (it is good business indeed) — but very little of the truth here. I have had such experiences not once but several times in my life. Each experience was very different, colourful, and beautiful to watch and feel, maybe all of them were simply creations of my very tricky and wonderful brain, nerve system and the chemical processes in a dying body. I came back every time, but I was not totally dead, only partly and temporary.

You, my friend, are surely one of the billions of dying people on this planet. I am too — together with you. Can you feel it? Your wonderfully clever body one day will turn into your enemy and will deceive you. What can you do about it? Something you still can….

Stay with me and I will tell you how to die slower and in a more pleasant way. This book was created as a part of Belbooks© concept and will answer the questions: how to have a beautiful, painless, enjoyable, slow-speed and meaningful death. If it is possible for me it is possible for you too — using your own personal experience and touch. Try to follow some of my guidance and find what is working for you. We are all different, therefore explore this book and make your own experiences available. It is worthwhile to try because my experience with many of my students and patients shows that methods developed by me are good and reliable (and very simple) and the results are great. Some of my followers are more than 90 and still have wonderful health and life energy.

I wish you a wonderful journey with a lot of discoveries. And now a Russian toast: “For your health and long-lasting life! Cheers!”

Is the glass half empty or half full? Are you living or dying? I will tell you that you are both. This is the duality of life. You cannot really distinguish. Sometimes you react (or act) as a living person, sometimes as a dying (or dead). But you do it unconsciously in many cases. I will show you how you can make the choice consciously.

Many people “think” that they are a living person and they build their life from this imagination. They postpone all of life’s important decisions for “tomorrow”. They think that they have plenty of time ahead. If you are this kind of person — be careful! Tomorrow never comes. There exist only today and it is the “last today” everyday. Tomorrow is the biggest illusion.

Therefore the right motivation for a dying person (who you are, actually) should be made from another principle. I suggest making the decision from the position of Love: love to yourself, love to people around you, love to our planet.

How can you be rude with a person who you truly love and you know is dying? No way! You will do your best for this poor guy — yourself! Maybe tomorrow will be too late! This is the best motivation to make the right decisions. Hurry up! Learn how to die with dignity and beauty.

Here is my interaction plan with you. Read it and practice it. It will help you to make your life richer and filled with many new challenges and opportunities.

This book is a manual for self study. It is not a medical book. It has the form of simple (but powerful) recommendations. If you are willing to apply some methods from this book in your lifestyle, please, remember, that it is your own responsibility. We advise that some people should have the professional consultation with health specialists before they make any adjustments in their daily lifestyle.

1. Meaning of death

A person went to the doctor to have a regular blood test. The doctor takes the results of the electronic test and is silence for 10 second. The patient starts to feel uneasy. “What’s wrong, doc?” “I think you have a serious problem. Deadly serious.” “How much time do I have?” “I do not know exactly, but not more than several months”. The person goes home in choking mood. Underway he starts to realised that his life is about over. It is not necessary to buy a new house, to be angry with crazy neighbours, to call the travel agency, to negotiate about a new bank loan. It is not important any more. No time for such small things. The person starts to think about what is important for him just now? He has forgotten what he wants in his life, what was his dreams, what life is all about. The next day the doc calls at 7 am and apologized; he looked at the wrong results. It was not his results. He has only diabetes 2, high blood pressure and high cholesterol — such a relief! He is happy again and starts to call neighbours claiming of noise in the evening, calling the bank and to his chief. Life is going on. Dreams can wait. He is full of energy investing his life to small unnecessary but time demanded tasks.

Can you recognise this situation? Life is a chain of small “necessary” actions, which create the illusion of daily activities. But who demands these actions? Society? You? Culture? Religion? That is why I would like to present to you the first concept about the truth of life. If someone tries to convince you to do something, simply ask 2 questions:

1. Who will benefit if you (a dying person) do/buy/invest your time in ….

2. Will you benefit as a “dying” person if you do/buy/invest your time in ….

Easy?

Only people know that they will die one day. Animals, trees, and minerals have no consciousness about death. Human beings from the age of 3—4, especially people from the modern part of the world, know that death is part of existence — but they are so arrogant they ignore this fact. No subjects in school educate about proper death.

Aborigines and primitive society have a more “easy” attitude towards death as a natural process. Some of them even celebrate death as a funny and joyful event. Some groups of people in Indonesia have a laughter party for the celebration of death and during the funeral they even manage to “lose” the dead body — they just thrown it in the ground and laugh together under way to funeral place — so called “funeral forest”.

Modern medicine knows a lot about the reason for death but no one knows what death really is. One day you will experience your own death. We think that death is happening to others, not with us. The biggest mystery of death is that it has clear meaning: death is necessary for the everlasting creation chain. Death is part of the creation process. Without death the new creative process will suffer.

Everything has their own circle of death: things, trees, molecules, atoms, societies, planets, and living creatures. We know a lot about it. And still we try to avoid the threat of death. We would like to live, even when a person’s life is difficult and meaningless. Why? Because we have deep in us the natural instinct of survival and making a new generation — that is what nature needs. But you? What do you need?

When people in some, as we call, “developed” societies struggle for life survival they are not thinking about why they are doing this. They do it more by instinct. But, when a developed modern democratic society starts to give basic survival kits for everybody, the question of death’s meaning starts to be hidden. Daily modern TV is full of reports of bloody events — real and fictional ones (movies) — still it is not the way to know the depth of death experience.

Death is an everyday partner of our existence. We need to kill the life of plants, trees, animals to support our existence therefore life is very aggressive. You will kill the life of something to support your own survival no matter if you are a vegetarian or not. And the things that you produce (urine, faeces and sweat) are far from being useful for other creatures apart from bacterial and some fungus.

It is not critic — it is truth. Most important is that your life existence has a clear meaning: for you, for your society/family, for our planet. Why are you here? Who will benefit from your cannibal existence?

And, in fact, do you know the art of dying well? The next part of the book will help you to clarify some sides of this art.

2. Best diet for dying person

What to eat if you are dying? Easy! Eat what recharges and supports your life energy. And what is that? Easy again! Food that is still full of life energy: living food. How to recognise this food? It is in the tree, it is in the garden, it is around you jumping, going, and making sounds. Local, seasonal, fresh. It is your new mantra if you would like to sustain your life energy as long as possible. Fish are direct from the sea, vegetables are from the garden, and fruits are from the trees. No (or minimum) transport, no processing. Meat (if you still need it) is from the local butcher or hunter, milk is direct from the local farm. I learned in Pennsylvania that the best milk products, together with chicken and fish, are from the Amish community. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I was in the marked every Fridays just to buy their products. Amish community is not using any fertilisers or chemicals for more than 250 years and their ethical politics are still reliable. I have heard from my friend in New York that rich Americans make contracts with Amish people to deliver their natural fresh, just from the cow, milk in glass bottles early in the morning directly to their doors. And in the top of the milk it is cream. Jammy!

And now about the food combinations:

Group 1: I call it balancing and life support food. This food is easy to digest. It means that you do not spend too much energy for digestion and receive more direct life energy for yourself.

Second group is stimulating food. This application depends on your daily activity. If you work physically you can sometimes include some elements (moderate) from group 2 in your daily diet. But if you are unwell stick to group 1.

Group 2: Stimulating food.

Group 3: food that is difficult to digest. Here is some foodstuff, which sometimes can be used, but it is not the food to sustain your life energy. It is difficult to digest and the part of energy needed for digestion can be bigger than the production of cells of life support energy. Be careful with this foodstuff.

Everything we eat should give us the life energy to support our inner activities (as cell maintenance processes) and outer activities and not create digestions troubles. A tiger who eats meat (very fresh meat indeed!!!) will take a break sometimes for a month between his bloody meals. He is not enjoying the antelope’s beefsteak 365 days a year. If you eat food from group 3 too frequently you will feel tired, sluggish, unclear, sloppy and dull.

Group 3

I do not recommend eating left overs from another day, old food, or industry processed food. I do not recommend you eat when you are angry or upset. In these two cases it is better to do physical challenges: dance, yoga, and sauna. If you are one of the “group 3 fans” this life strategy will not give you anything apart from a shortcut to the cemetery and a bunch of illnesses. How much to eat? The older you are “growing” (if you are still growing at all) the less you should eat. Your activity level is diminishing with age, your muscles are not the same, and you do not need to dig a tunnel every day. Your metabolic processes (or speed of life circulating body processes) will start to slow down with ages. It is natural. That is why you need to use the adaptation law, do not load your stomach with the same amount as 20-year old athletes are doing.

I eat two times a day (I am 60 now): a small breakfast after 10.00 and a small lunch-dinner around 16.00—17.00. That’s all. My parents do the same (my dad is 82). I eat fruit from the trees everyday when in season. My husband follows my routine (even though he LOVES food). Sometimes we have a “fest” food dinner — but very rarely. Middle way — nothing is too much — even rules. I do not mix too much in one meal. Boring? Not at all: I use food for my life not my life for food digestion. And remember: variety! Everyday is a new day. Seasons are changing, weather, your mood: all these are in an everlasting chain of circulation. Follow natural changes, be one with the changes and let your food be the mirror of ever changing life.

Now about “habits”. Are they good? Well, sometimes. But when you have “habits” (and most of habits are mechanical) you are not in the present moment anymore. You are not enjoying it as when it was the first time you tasted the food. And there is danger here. When you drive on “habits” you can oversee the signs for necessary changes in your life. It is as if a little pain comes one day. You ignore it and do the same as usual. It is comforting and safe, but it is very tricky. Better to stop and ask your body: what’s wrong? How can I help you, my old friend (my body)? Maybe you need something special today? But to be able to do this you need to awaken your awareness and be more sensitive. Habits are the sign for dead intellect and dead body. You are not a robot with a program inside. You are a dying person. Love yourself!

Some good food strategies and advice are in my other books -: check it on line and watch our Belbook TV channel on youtube about food strategies.

Now about the cleansing strategy. It is a new mega trend to cleanse the body using fasting, special diet, flushing the stomach with more. In the old days religion was the good guide for dieting and fasting periods. I was raised within the Russian Orthodox Church where out of the 360 days per year about 200 days are devoted to fasting and cleansing the body in order to welcome spiritual experiences in people’s life. Every year the Russian church publishes cooking books with nice recipes for every day of the year — my mom and I like to follow some of the fasting periods. Such books are very good guides to a healthy and rich spiritual life. But I have learned that the best guide is your inner respect for your body needs.

Muslim and Jewish religious have the same approach to guide people for everyday life and for periods of spiritual holidays using rules for food preparation and for special fasting days. In the Protestant religion I did not found the same tendency. Denmark is mainly a Protestant country, and it has no traditions for fasting. People take it easy. Sometimes too easy.

When I travel around the world I always observe the local food traditions. Then when I am back home I will try some of them to see what is working for me. In Germany I learned about D. Mayer Cur from 1920th including the milk and white bread diet, in China I learned about Buddhist fasting traditions. I have tried Atkinson diet myself, the South California diet, I once tried Ramadan tradition for a whole month. I will say that all of these fasts and diets are good and give the reliable results but not always and not for all people.

In my clinic I have develop the simple cleansing method based on rice and green tea which I learned in China, but have modified it by myself for our western lifestyle and patients needs. I call it “White Lotus”© cleansing weekend. It is a two day (weekend) cleansing program for re-establishing the inner resources of the human organism. I approved it in my clinic for many patients during the years of my active practice. I believe that any kind of weakness in the body can be managed by nature. The most rapid and effective treatment is by a change in everyday nutrition consumption.

Now about “White Lotus”:

It could have some desired effects: Stabilize blood pressure; cleanse the hazardous environment in your stomach and intestines, calm your mood, enhance good sleep, re-establish the salt balance in your body, make the whole body and joints more elastic.

My recommendations for how often it can be done: In the beginning, 1—2 times a month (1—2 weekends a month) until your state of well being has improved, later on once every second month (1 weekend) as a routine to maintain your well being.

Who should be careful: People with diabetes I and II, with heavy infections, with serious inflammations, patients just after an operation, and patients with any serious medical condition.

Caution! Have a consultation with your personal physician about changing your personal diet or if you have an existing medical condition, are under health care provider supervision for a medical condition, or believe that you have medical problem; you should contact your health care provider for their recommendations before you start the “White Lotus”© Cleansing Weekend.

There are 3 important elements in our “White Lotus”© Cleansing Weekend: Special breathing pattern, special way to drink the water, and a special way of preparation of the white rice. Here is step-by-step description:

“White Lotus”© Cleansing Weekend

1. Start your morning with breathing exercises, while laying in bed, and repeat it again in the evening just before you fall asleep (I call it the 7-7-7 breathing pattern). First find your pulse in your wrist while laying in bed, start to breathe by inhaling through your nose during seven pulse beats and just after inhalation without stopping, you exhale through your nose again over the next 7 pulse beats. Only breathe through your nose. Repeat this process 7 times. Relax and return to normal breathing.

2. Prepare 1 glass of clean water in the evening before you go to bed, and place the glass on your night table overnight. Cover the glass in such a way that dust will not affect the cleanness of the water. When you open your eyes in the morning, after you make your breathing exercises, drink the water very slowly. In fact you need slowly “eat” the water by keeping a small amount of water in your mouth and by making gurgling sounds for about 1—2 seconds before you slowly swallow the water. Empty the whole glass.

3. Use the following white rice diet in the morning and in the afternoon as the only two meals per day during your “White Lotus” © weekend. Here is your rice recipe.

Round, white rice must be used for this diet. You should leave the rice in a jar of water soaking overnight in the fridge (use 200—250 g of white, round rice covered with clean cold water). The daily amount of cooked rice should be at least 200 — 250 grams per person. Before you put rice in the jar, stir the rice in a warm skillet for 1—2 minutes without oil, then put the rice into the jar, pour clean water over the rice and cover the jar with a lid. This is the way to prepare your daily portions of rice. Do not forget to pour the water from the rice the next morning.

Take half of the soaked, overnight rice and boil it in clean, cold water (ratio of rice to water is 1:2) at low heat without salt until the grains are soft (200g of rice should be boiled about 25 minutes). The last half portion of the prepared rice shall be put back in the jar again, cover it with water and place in the fridge until the afternoon. Place the boiled rice in a big jar and start to wash the boiled rice under running tap water (I recommend to do it in a colander under running cold tap water for about 3—4 minutes). All grains should be rinsed clear from the white muggy water and it should be easy to separate the grains from each other. Heat your clean, cooked rice in a saucepan to the desired temperature, pour the warm rice into a bowl and enjoy it as a warm meal together with a cup — or two — of green tea (I like to use the green Japanese Sen-cha tea but try to find what you like). Do not use salt or sugar or any additives for these two days! Eat slowly, use a fine Chinese bowl and chopsticks — if you have them — to enhance the pleasure and aesthetic of the “White Lotus”© day. Drink the best green tea or herbs tea between your meals (1 — 2 litters each day).

Boil the second portion of rice in the late afternoon and enjoy it as evening meal with a fresh cup of green/herb tea.

Repeat the same procedure the next day.

Remember: To relax, to go for a walk in nature, to do your physical exercises, and to listen to good music, to read a book, or to go to the sauna — you have many choices for making these two days relaxing and joyful.

I did this weekend’s cure many times for myself and my dear husband followed me several times always with great results of freshness, weight loss, clearness and just rejuvenation. Try it!

3. Day plan for dying person

How to start to implement new things in the personal life of a dying person? But what to do? My advice is — start to include some small changes in your daily life. For example, try to see how many things you do automatically. Mechanical habits kill you because you are not enjoying the moment. Mechanical habits are moments of death in your life. If there are too many dead moments — your life will start to be dead action.

You eat with your fork and knife in the same position, you brush your teeth with the same hand and the same movement every morning, you use the same words to express your feelings “my honey”, “my baby” — is this creative? Can you do things differently? Be more fresh and inventive? Maybe you greet your wife/friends, children everyday with the same “old” words and the same expression on your face you learned many years ago and are still carrying on? You may consider a change. One of my friends changed the way he greeted people at least once per week. A lot of things started to happen with him only because of this small change: “hi guys!” (Week one), “hello, my dear” (another week), “cheers-up” (third week) — you can find your own way to implement the changes. The most important thing is that you are authentic and feel comfortable with the things you are doing. It cannot go wrong for you! And observe the reaction — you will be amazed how interesting life could turn for you! Be the active creator of your changes. Use unusual words, outfits, headdress, make-up, go learn something new and weird as tango, salsa, step dance, gospel. Be active — it is the best investment and your turnover will be an interesting, adventured life which is worth while dying for…

And here are a few clues about day plans. Plans are good for someone who is devoted to goals. What about the goal of a happy and meaningful life? In an ever-changing environment the art to stay happy means to read and notice the “stress” signals from your body/mind/intellect then make the necessary adjustments in everyday life. There are 7 general areas of existence, which we fill up everyday as human: physical, sexual, social, psychological (feelings), creativity, intellectual, and religious/philosophical. All of these areas demand our daily attention and maintenance. We sleep around 8 hours. We work around 8 hours. There are still 8 hours left to practice the art of a meaningful life/happy death. Everyday you ought to find the time for:

Your body needs:

1 hour for physical exercises (at least part should be done in the fresh air: running, jogging, walking, gardening)

1 hour to fulfil your need for physical food (dinner)

1 hour for personal hygiene — shower, hear dressing, massage

Your feelings, intellect and socialization needs:

1 hour for social contacts (friends, network, clubs)

1 hour for self-development (hobbies, clubs, networks)

1 hour for family (here is games, children, more)

1 hour for intimate contacts — art of sex and touch.

And — very important: one of these hours should be devoted to contact with nature. Every day! And it is the minimum demand. We are part of nature. This bondage is stronger that the bondage with society: you can survive living alone, but you cannot survive without nature. Even in prison the prisoners have the possibilities to walk in the fresh air once a day. It is necessity for human life.

Still you have 1 hour left — to fulfil obligations — a necessary price for living in a society, such as housekeeping, shopping, and transportation, or some official obligations.

This is a very general description. You may find your own way to plan your time but it is important that all areas are included more or less. If you have strong preferences, for instance: instead of doing physical work outs you may prefer to play games on the internet 3 hours per day, it is up to you, but remember, you will pay for this way of life by suffering physically, intellectually, socially later on.

Everyday balance means to fill up all of these 7 areas of existence. An everyday demand is to learn something new about yourself, to stress/stimulate your body/mind/intellect in a positive way. Stimulation in these 3 areas is necessary for your own development in the future. A sign that you are doing it right is that in the evening you are tired: physically/mentally/ intellectually AND you achieved something positive. In such way your sleep will be deep and restful. In the morning your body will be fresh, your mind — quiet, your heart — filled with joy.

Negative stress means that in the evening you are too tired, too unhappy, too dissatisfied. If it happens several days in a row, you need to evaluate your lifestyle and make the necessary adjustment.

4. Physical exercises for dying body

The body is a foolish thing. The body is dying a little bit every day. Look at the mirror. The mirror never lies. Today is not the same as yesterday. Makeup is not helping you. It will help you to create another illusion as do hair colouring, face-lifting, fat sucking surgery, even fitness — all such things exist to create another illusion about everlasting life and ignorance of dead. Death is a part of your daily experience. You were born with death in your blood. Death is the only one true democracy: it is the same for all — never mind who you are in the society hierarchy or in the wealth pyramid — you will end as fertilizer for the next life growth circle.

But can we postpone it? Yes or no! We can create a more pleasant way to travel to our dead end. No pain, no “bad days”, minimum sickness. Possible? May be. 70% of your personal life’s journey to Death Valley is already “coded” in your DNA — thanks to your parents. If they are healthy you have a better chance for a painless and slow death. Therefore when you wish to make another life try to check your health (and your partner’s health) first — it is not necessary to produce a “suffering generation” when you know that it is your fault. There is enough misery in the world already. I call it responsibility for the next generation’s wellbeing.

But 30% is in your hands. 1-hour exercises per day, good diet, fresh air, positive emotional, passionate life could help. I suggest you try to make 1-hour daily physical challenge for your flesh and bones house. Here is my contribution: I have developed several short programs on youtube (watch our BELBookstoday channel), which can give you some inspirations on how you can start to use your body actively. Programs are 10 minutes maximum and it is absolutely the minimum for body activation needs. My programs are for every age and about every health conditions, but, have a consultation with your family doctor before trying them if you are not sure. It is the best strategy. All my personal programs have the issue to activate the spine and to promote circulation, which are the two main keys about all problems with our health.

Here in this book I would like to present to you my very short, two minute, program for spine activation which you do in your office: just follow the drawings.

And do not forget about meditation. Meditation is the art of looking inside your mind and cleansing it. You are not your memory, your fantasies or your obsessive thoughts. You are something different than who is behind this crap which filled your mind and sometimes causes you to not sleep well. Meditation is a mental cleansing procedure. You wash your dirty hands and sweaty body in the shower; you wash your thoughts and mind “constructions” in meditation. It creates a “clean” environment for mind development. When the mind is not “clean” it is like a house full of garbage: you cannot find a place for something new if all the places are occupied with old fantasies, thoughts, unnecessary memories, worries and complains. If there is no place in your mind — your mind will start to “die” faster. That is why old people have no memory: the mind starts an automatic procedure to “clean” space for the future, if any. Better to do it yourself.

I have developed a special series of “anti-Alzheimer” exercises which will help you to train your brain (or more precisely you will train the connection between both your brain’s hemispheres: with age this important connection between the two parts of the brain is becoming weaker). It is a free program on our Belbook channel.

My father learned the auto-training method, which was very popular in 1970’s, which helps him to relax his very busy mind. It was meditation in another wrapping paper, which was called in that time auto-training. Nowadays it is the popular “mindfulness” meditation. But deep inside it is the same — a meditation. Now my dad is 82 and he is with full memory: he is writing books about the history of Russia from 1940—50s to 2000 (look at these books if you can read Russian).

His unique experience as a chief engineer of the biggest hydropower construction projects in Russia gives him a very broad view on Russia’s history from Stalin — Chrushov — Brezhnev- Gorbachev — Eltsin — Putin periods. If you can read Russian you are welcome to share his history analysis — books are free on net and Google can help you to master the Russian language.

I will introduce to you the easiest way to practice meditation. Sit down comfortably and easy. Switch off your computer, mobile, close the door and post the message: “Meditation 20 minutes. Please Respect”

Now about the method. Our special meditation today which I call “Dead man meditation” consists of 3 important parts:

— Deep relaxation of the body. You can buy one of the relaxations CD with nice music and guidance. I found one in a hotel I was staying and it was nice. Find what you like and practice for some time. Change when you feel that it is too familiar and not working anymore for you. Use the first 10 minutes for deep relaxation before you start part 2.

— Second part is self-observation. You start to observe your breathing: inhale, exhale. It is enough for the beginning. You can start to count the breaths. Inhale and exhale count as 1. Do it as long as you remember to count. If your attention is disturbed, start with one again. If some thoughts come — observe them, then, go back to breathing. Include the observation of your tummy: inhale and tummy expands, exhale and your tummy contracts.

— Third part: switch off the light and be in total darkness. Darkness is calming. You were swimming 9 month in total darkness before your birth. It was warm and total dark. It was very secure. Try to sit in total darkness and observe your breathing. Surrender to any thoughts, which come to you and again come back to breathing. You came from darkness and you will go to darkness one day forever. Every evening you close your eyes and surrender to darkness of night during your sleep. Be comfortable with darkness. Eyes can be closed or be open — all is ok. Start with 10 minutes.

Total procedure will be 20 minutes. Remember that meditation works when all 3 parts are respected. A lot of people start with part 2 and have no results claiming that they can not meditate. It is not true. All people can meditate if they respect to follow second part after “full body relaxation” part. And the method is working. It is not religious or very powerful. It is enough to “clean up” your mind. I do my meditation in the morning and in the evening. But find your own way. If you would like to learn meditation in a yoga club you may enjoy discovering other methods. The East has meditated for centuries. There are a lot of experiences and methods. The choice is yours.
