В июле, буквально в одну неделю на экраны вышли вторая часть Теда и на гребне волны, а MTV без конца крутил ролик Полы Абдул «Rush, Rush.», где Пола и Киану создали своеобразный ремейк «Rebel Without A Cause», выступая в ролях, которые в оригинале сыграли Натали Вуд и Джеймс Дин. В сентябре в США начали показывать «Айдахо».
«Yeah, that was pretty awesome,» he says with a push of his hair. «But it just happened. It wasn’t like I had planned it all to happen at the same time. It just did. I’m just glad I got all that work. «After those two, I still had «My Own Private Idaho’, and then I was unemployed,» he continued. «You don’t know if you going to get more work or not. It just depends on whether what you do is successful. Whether the people like it or it makes any money.»
Then he gives a grin that makes you think maybe he did have it all planned. «You just give it your best shot and hope it comes out alright.
«Айдахо» и сейчас смотрится неоднозначно, а уж тогда… Случалось, зрители уходили после откровенных сцен, но это даже уже не вопрос вкуса, а вопрос стереотипов восприятия. Подумайте, чем «Айдахо» отличается от той же «Красотки», где героиня Джулии Робертс тоже продает свою любовь за деньги? Может быть, тем, что «Красотка» — это, все-таки, красивая сказка с хорошим концом? А, «Айдахо» уж больно трагичен… или?
